Just like many South African children, Sindile has lost her parents to AIDS. Winner of the Audience Award at IDFA 2006, We Are Together is a portrait of this twelve-year-old girl and her friends from the Agape Orphanage choir. Director Paul Taylor follows Sindile and her friends over a period of three years. With the help of popstar Zwai Bala, the choir records a promotional album in Durban and eventually performs a concert in New York with well-known stars such as Alicia Keys and Paul Simon.
