Following burnout, Sandra is told that she will lose her job. In fact, her colleagues had to vote: either all obtain a bonus, or Sandra keeps her job. The majority chose the bonus. Sandra now has two days to convince them to save her job. ‘Social realism’ drama by Belgian brothers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne.

Synopsis

On suspicion of vote rigging, a colleague and friend of Sandra has obtained a second ballot after the weekend. If nine out of the sixteen employees are willing to give up the supplementary dividend, Sandra can keep her job. Her husband convinces her to pay a visit to the colleagues during the weekend.

Ashamed and reluctantly, Sandra goes door to door. Most of her colleagues show little or no sympathy. Times are hard and they have enough trouble as it is. They cannot afford turning down a 1000-euro bonus, as they have renovation works, children who go to university, or they are in the middle of a divorce. One of them points out that it’s nothing personal: ‘I did not vote against you, I voted in favour of my bonus.’
