In this Q&A, moderator Rianne Doorneweerd will talk with the director of Apprentice, Boo Junfeng, and international criminal defense lawyer Bart Stapert about law, justice and (in)humane treatement. They will speak about the death sentence and the prisons system in Singapore and its impact on national, international but also personal level.
Boo Junfeng is a widely acclaimed Singaporean filmmaker. Apprentice is his second feature film and was selected as the Singaporean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.
International criminal defense lawyer Bart Stapert is the Chairman of the Movies that Matter Foundation. As a lawyer, he is specialized in human rights and complex international criminal cases. He handled over 70 death penalty cases in the USA.
Rianne Doorneweerd works as a Project Manager for Butterfly Works and an Educator for the Anne Frank Foundation. She has a background in project management and education in emerging economies, including Asia.
