Q&A with director Mona Nicoara, led by journalist Hellen Kooijman.
Director Mona Nicoara has been a human rights activist in Romania since 1989, when dictator Ceausescu’s regime was overthrown. She started her film career as co-producer of Edet Belzberg’s film Children Underground, which was nominated for an Oscar.
Hellen Kooijman is a journalist specialising in Bulgaria. She writes articles on Bulgaria and Eastern Europe, conducts research for TV shows and gives lectures on Bulgaria. 2006 marked the publication of her book ‘In Bulgarije, een vertwijfelde natie op weg naar Europa’ (In Bulgaria, a desperate nation on its way to Europe). Since May 2001, she has been editor-in-chief of ‘Donau’ magazine, a publication about Central and Southeast Europe.
