Andrea Kuhn interviews directors Ilse and Femke van Velzen
Twin sisters and directors Ilse and Femke van Velzen have specialised in making documentaries that expose injustice and give oppressed people a voice all over the world.
They jointly direct and produce their documentaries as independent filmmakers under their own label, IFProductions. They launched the Mobile Cinema Foundation in March 2011.
The two were born on 11 October 1980 in Delft. They both studied Cultural and Social Development, one in Utrecht and one in Amsterdam. In the final year of their studies, they decided to pool their talents and make movies together. After graduation, they made a trilogy about Congo; Justice for Sale is the third and final movie in that trilogy. The previous films in the trilogy are: Fighting the Silence and Weapon of War.
Andrea Kuhn is the director of the Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival in Germany.
