Does security make our society a safer placemore safe? What is the price we pay? A debate on our obsession with security with Quirine Eijkman (Centre for Terrorism and Counterterrorism) and Wil van Gemert (director Cyber Security NCTV), chaired by journalist Folkert Jensma.
Quirine Eijkman lectures and conducts research at the Center for Terrorism and Counterterrorism, Leiden University, on the relationship between human rights and security, sociology of law and counterterrorism. She also works in media policy and coordinates internships and research. In addition, she is an independent consultant for Justice Q&A and chairs the Dutch Section of the International Commission of Jurists (NJCM), which seeks to promote and improve human rights protection and critically monitors legislation and policy in the Netherlands.
Folkert Jensma is a commentator on Law & Public Administration and former editor-in-chief of NRC Handelsblad newspaper.
