Esmaa Alariachi (Meiden van Halal) interviews Fakhri Hamad about the founding of Cinema Jenin.

 

Fakhri Hamad is a project manager and protagonist in the documentary entitled Cinema Jenin, about this ambitious project. Hamad grew up in the Balata refugee camp near Nablus in Palestine. He was arrested twice during the First Intifada. Since 1993, he has been working to promote the peace process between Palestine and Israel.

 

Esmaa Alariachi is a Dutch TV personality, English teacher at a ZMOK school for children with severe behavioural difficulties, and a doctor’s assistant. She became famous in the Netherlands for her role in an NPS television series called “De Meiden van Halal” (The Halal Girls), a series in which Esmaa and her sisters Jihad and Hajar, Moroccan-Berber Muslim women living in Amsterdam West, head out on a ‘voyage of discovery’ to find out if the Netherlands is where they want to be.
