zaterdag 24 maart 2012 - 12:45
Festive world première, organised in cooperation with the UAF Foundation for Refugee Students. Following the film, there will be a discussion with director Miles Roston and the refugees from the film who are currently living in the Netherlands, Fasil and Fathi.
Miles Roston is an American filmmaker living in the Netherlands. His mother fled from Slovakia to the USA during WWII. His films include God in Government, on right-wing religion during the administration of President Bush.
As a partner in the Prospektor journalism production bureau, Eefje van Blankevoort has produced many audiovisual and text reports. She wrote the book De Vluchtelingenjackpot (The Refugee Jackpot), in which she and photographer Karijn Kakebeeke spent 18 months following the selection and integration process of refugees who were invited to come to the Netherlands. Special selection missions invite vulnerable refugees from countries like Iraq, Somalia and Ethiopia to come to the Netherlands and build up a new life here.
