Cultural historian and publicist Thomas von der Dunk often writes about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in his columns. Especially for the Movies that Matter Festival, he will introduce the film with a column about the film.
In Defamation, filmmaker Yoav Shamir talks to Jews who view anti-Semitism in the Western world as an urgent and vital issue. He follows Jewish-American leaders to Europe, where they warn of the growing threat of anti-Semitism. But Shamir also talks to Norman Finkel, famous for his controversial book The Holocaust Industry. Finkelstein speaks out against Israeli politicians and Jewish lobby groups that he feels are exploiting the Holocaust to justify the Israeli position in the Palestinian conflict.
