Second half of a discussion about prostitution in The Netherlands (first half on Monday 25 March).

Regulation of the prostitution sector is a way to control it, is what we heard for years. But how controllable is it really? Should The Netherlands follow the Swedish example, where buying sex is criminalised, or do we lose too many revenue? And does a prohibition lead to more illegal prostitution? The presumption is that 50 to 80 percent of the prostitutes is forced and exploited.

Journalist Jojanneke van den Berge discusses the Dutch prostitution policy with

  • PvdA-Member of Parliament Myrthe Hilkens, who visited Sweden recently and wrote a book about the pornification of the Dutch society
  • rapporteur Human Trafficking Corinne Dettmeijer-Vermeulen who thinks we should stop romanticising the prostitution sector
  • Sabine Kallen, from the Public Prosectur's Department
  • Maria Scali, director Shop, shelter prostitutes and human trafficking in The Hague
  • Film director Roy Dames who was shocked by the distance between politics and the harsh reality on the street
