Call Me Kuchu

Former politician and jurist Boris Dittrich will provide an introduction for the film Call Me Kuchu.The film will be followed by a debate on gay-rights in Uganda, 'the most dangerous country for gays'.
The screening will be followed by a debate in the foyer of Theater aan het Spui on Lesbien, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights in Uganda. Moderator is Boris Dittrich. Participants: directors Malika Zouhali-Worrall and Katherine Fairfax Wright, activist Frank Mugish and Dennis Wanala and Monique Samuel. After an interview with the directors Ugandan LGBT-activist Frank Mugisha, Dennis Wanala and Monique Samuel will join the discussion to talk about their personal experiences in Uganda and the (inter)national social and political dilemmas concerning human rights violations of the LGBT-community in Uganda.
Frank Mugisha (30) spearheads the fight for sexual minority rights in conservative Uganda. The killing, two years ago, of his long-time friend and colleague-activist David Kato, portrayed in the film Call Me Kuchu, has only strengthened his motivation. Read more about Frank Mugisha.
