Zaal 1, Filmhuis Den Haag
Debate i.c.w. Wordt Vervolgd, the monthly Dutch Magazine of Amnesty International, The Netherlands.
Debate with director Rehad Desai, Ineke van Kessel, from the Africa Study Centre, and Julia Foudraine, research master student at the Africa Study Centre. Presentation by Marnix de Bruyne, journalist at Wordt Vervolgd and author of the book van Het Land van Soekmekaar.
The debate will focus on questions such as to what extent the situation shown in the film is examplatory for government behaviour in South Africa? What does the incident tell us about the direction in which the country is currently heading? To what extent does the recent wave of strikes scare off potential investors? And what does this all mean for the elections in South Africa in May 2014?
