Ellen Vermeulen is a Flemish young, talented director. With her unique and sincere style, she creates films that have the potential of reaching an audience over again. 9999 is Ellen's first feature length documentary. Vermeulen has been active in Merksplas for one and a half year, mainly to do research and search for the five best characters for the film. The film was recorded in Spring 2014. The film premiered in April 2014 at the Visions du Réel festival in Nyon, Switzerland.
This Q&A is led by former criminal lawyer Margje van Weerden. At the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Van Weerden currently teaches in criminal law and criminal procedure.
