What would you do if you are a young student attending university in Damascus, while your family lives in occupied territory in the Golan Heights? You're allowed to visit them only once a year; in the meantime, your only option is to stand at the border with a megaphone, shouting to your mother to ask how she is doing. And what will you decide when you finish your studies? Would you prefer to stay in the cosmopolitan city of Damascus, or will you head back to the village where you lived before? Difficult choices need to be made when you know that you will no longer be allowed to travel back and forth between your family and your friends from university.
This festive world première will naturally be attended by directors Ester Gould and Sabine Lubbe Bakker, as well as one of the lead actors from the film, Bayan Amasha. The showing will be followed by a fantastic performance from Amsterdam-based band Supercity, which also provided the soundtrack for the film.
