Q&A with Julita Lemgruber, moderated by Pamela Kalkman.
After the screening, members of the audience can ask their questions to Brazilian sociologist Julita Lemgruber, who served as police ombudsman and as general director of the prison system in Rio de Janeiro. Currently Mrs. Lemgruber leads the Center for Studies on Public Security and Citizenship in Rio de Janeiro. This study center is dedicated to research, training and disseminating information on public safety, justice, the prison system and the prevention of violence. Julita Lemgruber will speak about police violence, corruption and fighting the notorious gang wars in Brazil.
Pamela Kalkman is project assistant Politics and Crime at the Conflict Research Unit of the Dutch Clingendael Institute for International Relations. Kalkman conducts research on politics and crime and and non-conventional armed violence, with a regional focus on Latin America, West Africa and Europe.
