Students have their have their own competition at the Movies that Matter Festival: Students' Choice. The jury, consisting of eight members, chose three of what they thought were the best films from a selection of this year's festivalfilms. For each of the selected Students' Choice films there is a free screening for students and members of CJP.
The nominated films are:
3 1/2 Minutes 10 Bullets: Electrifying documentary thriller about Afro-American teenager Jordan Davis who is shot dead after a discussion about his loud music.Free screening for Students or CJP passholders on Friday, March 18, 21:30 hrs at Theater aan het Spui Kleine Zaal.
Nice People: Feel-good documentary about the first Somali ‘Bandy’ (ice hockey) team in the world, consisting of Somali immigrants who live in the ‘friendly’ Swedish town of Börlange. While having no ice skating experience whatsoever, the boys wish to compete in the Bandy world championships in Siberia. Free screening for Students or CJP passholders on Saturday night 19 March.
The Chosen Ones: Sofia, 14 years old, is in love with Ulises. Because of him, in spite of him, she is forced into a prostitution ring in Mexico. To set her free, Ulises will have to find another girl to replace her... Free screening for Students or CJP passholders on Sunday, March 20, 2016, 19:15 hrs at Theater aan het Spui Kleine Zaal.
