Following the Kotido Voice of Karamoja Festival, from 28 to 29 July, mobile film screenings will be held in 12 villages in the Kotido and Moroto districts in Uganda from 31 July to 5 August 2016.
The festival presents films made by Karamojong filmmakers - from Karamoja region in the North-East of Uganda - as well as international films with topics relevant to the region. Next to the screenings there are community debates and discussions on the issues raised in the films. The festival serves to inspire and show people the art of cinema and the importance of telling their stories. Relating to human rights issues in other parts of the world can also help them putting their own issues in a larger context. Read more
