Iranian filmmaker Panahi sentenced to 6 years
The acclaimed Iranian film-maker Jafar Panahi is sentenced to six years in prison, and banned from directing and producing films for the next 20 years, his lawyer said. Besides that he is not allowed to leave Iran the coming 20 years. Last March Panahi was arrested while making a film about the disputed presidential election of 2009. The conviction is a warning to all artists that criticize the Iranian government. Sign the petition.
