Friday the 25th of March the Movies that Matter Festival presents a debate with among others filmmaker Carol Dysinger and International Crisis Group analyst Candace Rondeaux, and an interview with the Russian documentary maker Andrei Nekrasov.
After the screening of Camp Victory, Afghanistan at 19.00 hrs, a panel discussion takes place on the effect of such training missions in Afghanistan with documentary maker Carol Dysinger, International Crisis Group analyst Candace Rondeaux, journalist Antoinette de Jong, and Willem van de Put. Moderator is Lars van Troost (Amnesty International).
After the screening of Russian Lessons at 21.15hrs an interview with the Russian documentary filmmaker Andrei Nekrasov follows. By former correspondent and head of NRC-magazine Laura Starink.
In the second half of 2008, Russia and Georgia clashed in South Ossetia. Russian President Dmitri Medvedev said that his intervention was intended to protect the Russians living in the Georgian province. Andrej Nekrasov and Olga Konskaya compare in Russian Lessons their own film footage to the official version released by Russian, which was adopted by the Western media.
