This year’s Oscars ceremony took place yesterday in the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. Two films that will be screened at the upcoming Movies that Matter Festival were nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film: No and War Witch. The Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film went to the French language film Amour.
5 Broken Cameras, which was screened during the Movies that Matter Festival 2012, was one of the nominees for the Oscar for Best Documentary. Last week filmmaker Emad Burnat from 5 Broken Cameras was being detained for no good reason at Los Angeles International Airport. The Oscar for Best Documentary went to Searching for Sugar Man.
