Sunday afternoon at 5 pm the world premiere of Shout took place. The Dutch directors Ester Gould and Sabine Lubbe Bakker and one of the lead actors from the film, Bayan Amasha were there. After the screening there was a fantastic performance from Amsterdam-based band Supercity, which also provided the soundtrack for the film.
Shout tells about the dilemma's of young students from the occupied territory in the Golan Heights who are attending university in Damascus. You're allowed to visit your family only once a year; in the meantime, your only option is to stand at the border with a megaphone, shouting to your mother to ask how she is doing. And what will you decide when you finish your studies? Would you prefer to stay in the cosmopolitan city of Damascus, or will you head back to the village where you lived before? Difficult choices need to be made when you know that you will no longer be allowed to travel back and forth between your family and your friends from university.
