Tonight at 19.30 hrs at Kriterion, Amsterdam the documentary Camp 14: Total Control Zone. Shin Dong-hyuk grew up in a North Korean labour camp. At the age of 23 he escaped to South Korea, where he discovered a whole new world. Once out of the camp, he at first felt like he was from outer space. The principle of money as a means of exchange, for example, was utterly foreign to him. Dong-hyuks memories of the camp are depicted by beautiful, but sober animations. Camp 14 won the A Matter of ACT Documentary Award and the Students' Choice Award at the Movies that Mattter Festival 2013.
