During the closing ceremony at the Movies that Matter Festival 2014 on Wednesday evening 26 March, four documentaries and a feature film received awards. All films showed the courageous actions of people who, throughout the world, are working to fight injustice and risking their lives for a better life.
The winners of this festival edition are: in the A Matter of Act program: Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus and gay activist Yves Yomb from Born This Way; the Camera Justita award was for Miners Shot Down; the youth prize MovieZone MtM Award to opening film La Jaula de Oro and #chicagoGirl - The Social Network Takes on a Dictator won the Students Choice Award. The VARA audience award went to Sound of Torture.
We would like to thank all of the filmmakers, activists, guests, our festival partners and financial partners and the many volunteers that made this festival a success!
