Opening film festival 2010 in Zaandam
On Friday the 25th of June the opening film of the Movies that Matter Festival 2010 No One Knows About Persian Cats of Bahman Ghobadi will be screened by Filmtheater De Fabriek in Zaandam, in cooperation with the Iranian Film Festival. In this film, an Iranian rockband tries to leave their country in a creative, but clandestine way.
The film will be introduced and discussed by Iran-experts Sahand Sahebdivani and Sara Mohammadi. They will discuss the contemporary cultural situation of Iran, the (im)possibility to make music in this country, and the difficult situation of the musicians in this film.
Following Sahebdivani and Mohammadi's film discussion, a unique musical performance will take place. To end the evening in style, Café Fabriek and the Iranian Film Festival will present a free performance of the Mezrab Connection after the film- and musicprogram. The Mezrab Connection combines traditional Persian music with steaming flamenco and cheerful contemporary (pop)music to a swinging mix.
