“Their music is banned by the government, censored by the press, their fans arrested.” Viva Cuba Libre: Rap is War is a gripping undercover film about the militant Cuban underground rap duo Los Aldeanos, who tackle the injustices in no uncertain terms. Dynamic footage of Havana’s street culture – with street dance and basketball – is intercut with scenes from the rappers’ concerts and family lives. The film will be screened on July 3rd at 10 pm at Pakhuis de Zwijger Amsterdam at IDFA by Night. It takes place in the open air and the entrance is free. From June 24-July 4 IDFA by Night will also present other documentaries. For more information click here.
