Pakistan - AKS Film Art and Dialogue Festival for Minorities

Pakistan - AKS Film Art and Dialogue Festival for Minorities

January 20, 2016

In April 2016, the Forum for Dignity Initiative and the AKS festival will organise its 2ndedition of a ten-day festival for and about sexual minorities, in particular transwomen. Traditionally, transwomen (also called Hijra in Pakistan) used to have a special, respected role in society. However today, they find themselves more and more marginalised and discriminated. Film screenings take place in safe and private settings in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. Members from all sexual minorities are invited to join the screenings, discussions, workshops and art exhibitions. The festival expects to host 1,500 visitors. www.aksfestival.com
