Movies that Matter Education aims to have teaching materials available for all recommended films. These materials are developed in collaboration with teachers and consist of a reader and instruction sheets.
The reader will provide you with background information on the countries and the themes focused on in the film. The reader is primarily meant to be used by the teacher, but, if so desired, the students can use it to look up answers.
The instruction sheets have a broad scope with questions and assignments that can be used for a variety of subjects. As a teacher, you can decide for yourself if you want the students to start working on the human rights issues they just learnt about, or if you would like to focus on the filmmaking aspects for example. Various subjects were examined while developing the teaching materials. This way, the film can be used not only for subjects like Cultural Studies, Sociology or Philosophy, but –depending on the film- also for subjects like Economy, History, Geography, Biology or Healthcare. This also makes it easier to use the film for projects that are linked to any one subject.

If Movies that Matter hasn’t developed it’s own teaching materials for a film, we will gladly provide you with material from related institutions, themed material from NGO’s and/or fact sheets about the countries and themes concerned.
Teaching materials are available in Dutch only.
