Simon Bateson, director of Take One Action will have a discussion with director Boris Lojkine and journalist Karel Smouter.

Boris Lojkine started out teaching philosophy in Paris, before he went to Vietnam and made two documentaries Ceux qui restent [Those That Remain] (2001) and Les Âmes errantes [Errant Souls] (2005). Hope is his debut feature film.

Simon Bateson is director of Take One Action Filmfestival. He is driven by a passion for great cinema and positive social change. He has worked across media, film, international development and community empowerment, with the British Museum, VSO and the World Development Movement from Scotland to Sierra Leone. Simon founded Take One Action in 2008 to celebrate “the people and movies that are changing the world

Since 2014 Karel Smouter works as deputy chief editor at De Correspondent, a Dutch slow-journalism platform that provides its readers with in-depth articles on current topics. At De Correspondent he focuses on migration, religion and human rights. The past year he has written a variety of articles on Dutch- and European migration policy. He is co-founder of Sundance Media and worked as chief editor for the Dutch news magazine De Nieuwe Koers.
