Dutch Movies Matter

In the new Dutch Movies Matter competition programme we screened feature films and documentaries from The Netherlands that open our eyes to human rights. The first Golden Butterfly for Best Dutch Film and € 5.000 went to director Floris-Jan van Luyn for his documentary The Bastard.

The jury, composed of filmmakers Reber Dosky, Ena Sendajirevic and Sandra Beerends, scientist Nawal Mustafa and Tingting Shi from the Shanghai LGBT Film Festival, said about The Bastard: "A personal history as a metaphor for that big painful history of our shortcomings as human beings, that not only have an impact on the world but on a family’s fate as well."
