Nicely stylized kaleidoscope about binational couples in Austria. They are forced to live separately due to the strict immigration laws, suffer from red tape or work night and day to keep their foreign spouses with them.

An Austrian woman with her two children has been living separated from her husband for nearly two years after he was deported to Africa without prior notice. A man tries to reassure his Chinese wife on the telephone that she will certainly be allowed to return to Vienna. Others tell about long delays for obtaining residence permits, the continuous flow of documents to be submitted, obligatory German lessons and surprise home visits by the immigration department.
Playfully shot with numerous yellow elements, the documentary tells the story of twenty-one couples that found the love of their life abroad. For them, however, love is not borderless and many of them live separated and are faced with complex and absurd bureaucratic procedures on a daily basis. In the end, it seems that foreign spouses are only allowed to stay when the couple earns enough money.
