Talkshow: how to fight a superpower

When the Chinese Communist Party backtracked on its promise to give Hong Kong autonomy, Joshua Wong decided to save the city. In 2014, he encouraged tens of thousands of young people to take to the streets in protest, thus becoming the unexpected leader of the resistance against China. When the protests first started, Wong was only fourteen years old.

The film Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower is the story of how a brave hero, Joshua Wong, fought a powerful enemy, China. Activist Nathan Law and lawyer Jason Y. Ng also played an important role in the protests. On 26 March 2018, they will be the guests on Amnesty’s talkshow that will follow the screening of the film. Unfortunately, Joshua Wong can’t attend because of the travel ban authorities have imposed on him.

Attend the movie and the following interactive conversation with Nathan Law, Jason Y. Ng and human rights and international relations experts Marianna Belalba (CIVICUS) and To Tjoelker (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). They will shine their light on the worldwide trend of the ever-increasing dangers human rights defenders face.
