Campus Night

20E: Campus Night

On Friday night, 27 March at 20.25hr at the small theatre at Theater aan het Spui, we'll present the results of a media lab in which asylum seekers and status holders made a film within one week. Furthermore, we will screen the documentary Even After Death from the refugee camp Moria on Lesbos, hand out The One Minutes Awards Jr. 2020, and talented youngsters from refugee camps will be honoured.

Even After Death
Both poetic and disturbing tribute to the many refugees who have drowned trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea into Europe. A plea against neglect, and for a human outlook on the realities at the European borders. Filmed by refugee filmmakers who themselves survived the deadly Mediterranean crossing.

The One Minutes Awards Jr. 2020
How is the life of a young refugee in the Netherlands? How do Korean girls deal with the constant pressure to be elegant and feminine? What is the influence of war on daily life in Syria? Since 2002, filmmakers have been traveling around the globe as part of The One Minutes Jr. project to find answers to these questions together with children. Their creations are examples of astonishing resilience and youthful creativity. At the awards ceremony, the jury – together with the Jr. jury – will announce three winners from the fifteen nominated one-minute films made by youngsters from Eritrea, Japan, Lebanon, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Palestine, South Korea, Syria and Turkey.

This unique project is made in cooperation with Stichting De Vrolijkheid, European Cultural Foundation, Buddy Film ProjectBNNVARA and RE FOCUS.
