Screening I DANIEL BLAKE Erasmus Prize 2017

October 30, 2017

This year’s Erasmus Prize will be awarded to Canadian cultural sociologist Michele Lamont on the 28th of November. As part of the festivities surrounding the Erasmus Prize, we will screen the film I Daniel Blake by Ken Loach at Cinerama Rotterdam on the 17th of November. Afterwards, a talk will be hosted with Michele Lamont and social lawyer Jelle Klaas.

59-year-old Daniel Blake makes a living as a carpenter, until one fateful day he has a heart attack and has to appeal to the state for the first time in his life. He tries to navigate his way through the impersonal and bureaucratic benefit scheme. In the process, he meets single mom Katie and her two children. They support each other and together they rediscover their dignity.

The evening will commence 07:15 PM at Cinerama Rotterdam. No entree fee is required. If you wish to visit the screening, send an email citing 'Screening I Daniel Blake’ to r.breman@moviesthatmatter.nl
