On 25 March 2011, the Movies that Matter Festival will host a workshop with renowned British documentary filmmaker Kim Longinotto open to all film students, aspiring filmmakers, and film aficionados.


Kim Longinotto is a filmmaker who is determined to confront and challenge injustices. Her documentaries examine the lives of ordinary women who, with incredible ingenuity and strength, try to break out of socially ascribed roles. The Movies that Matter festival will feature a retrospective of Longinotto's work including her latest documentary Pink Saris.

This workshop will examine various aspects of Kim Longinotto's work. The programme will feature segments of her films as well as a discussion with the filmmaker over her professional life and development. Participants will also be given an opportunity to ask Kim Longinotto questions. This workshop will be conducted in English.
