Het Schoonmakersparlement

The Dutch documentary The Schoonmakersparlement by director Leon Verdonschot had its world premiere at the festival earlier this week. Tonight you can see the film at 17:00 hrs at the Nutshuis. After the screening there will be a Q&A with Leon Verdonschot (please note this Q&A will be in Dutch; the film will be screened with English subtitles.)

The film shows us the struggle of cleaning workers in the Netherlands, who are sick and tired of being underpaid and undervalued. Therefore, they established a special representative body to defend their interests in 2010.

Award Ceremony

Join us on Friday 30 March at 20:30 hrs for the festive Award Ceremony at the lobby of Theater aan het Spui. During the ceremony the Golden Butterfly for the winning film in the Dutch Movies Matter competition will be handed out, along with the Students' Choice Award and the MovieZone Award.

The Maribor Uprisings

The Maribor Uprisings is an innovative, interactive documentary in which the viewer decides the direction of the film. The population of a Slovenian city is sick of the corrupt municipal administration and goes out into the streets. The audience chooses: go along with the peaceful protests, or join the mob that seeks confrontation with the police. After the screenings of the film, directors Maple Razsa and Milton Guillén bring the audience along to a large protest in the Slovenian city Maribor. Watch the film on Friday, 30 March 30 at 21:00 hrs, Zaal 5, Filmhuis Den Haag or Saturday, 31 March 31 at 14:00 hrs at Theater aan het Spui Kleine Zaal.

I'm So Angry Workshop

The traveling I'm So Angry (I Made a Sign) Pop-up Museum tells the stories of ordinary people from all over Europe who became part of revolutions that formed Europe between 1956 and 1989. People who fought for freedom and democracy, for the right to participate or simply a living space. Even now the dissatisfaction across Europe is great, what do we want to change? Or do we want to keep what we have, especially with all our might? When is the measure full and are we going to take action? The pop-up museum immediately asks visitors: What are you angry about? Make your own protest sign during the I'm So Angry Workshop on Saturday 31 March 31 at 16:00 hrs at the Foyer, Theater aan het Spui.
