Advocating for filmmakers at risk

On Tuesday 26 March, Movies that Matter will host an industry debate to discuss how the international film community can support filmmakers who are at risk more effectively.

Over the past few years, the world has seen a growing number of filmmakers being threatened, arrested and imprisoned in an attempt to silence them. In these critical situations, the international (film) community could make a difference in campaigning for their freedom or pressuring authorities for their release.

Date: Tuesday 26 March from 16.30-18.00h
Location: Grote Zaal, Theater aan het Spui

Crowdfunding Presentation

Dear filmmakers, have you ever considered crowdfunding? On Wednesday Jeltje Hillen from CineCrowd will attend the Movies that Matter Festival, to speak with all festival guests about creating successful crowdfunding campaigns. CineCrowd is the crowdfunding platform for filmmakers. Jeltje Hillen guides filmmakers in preparation for and during their campaigns.

Join us at the foyer of Theater aan het Spui at 11.20 am sharp, and we will take you to a secret location for this presentation.

Date: Wednesday 27 March 11.20 am -12.30 pm.
Location: Foyer Theater aan het Spui

Join us for Coffee!

Many film festival organisers and filmmakers will attend the Movies that Matter Festival this year. On Sunday 24 March, we welcome them and you at the lobby of hotel Mercure for an informal gathering, with free coffee and tea.

It is a great networking opportunity for festival organisers and filmmakers. So join us!

Date: Sunday March 11am – 12pm. Location: Lobby of hotel Mercure

The Miseducation of Cameron Post

When Cameron Post (Chloë Grace Moretz) is caught kissing a girl at a school dance, her foster parents send her to an institution to eradicate her homosexual feelings. A scintillating screen adaptation of a book set in the 1990s in the USA.

Go see The Miseducation of Camron Post Saturday night 23 March at 10 PM.

Everything Must Fall

Everything Must Fall is a vivid reconstruction of the student protests at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. When the government decided to raise tuition fees in 2015, the students rose up, using the hashtag #FeesMustFall.

Go see Everything Must Fall on Sunday, March 24 at 21:15 hrs at Theater aan het Spui Kleine Zaal
