Start-up grants & Impact grants

Movies that Matter offers grants to human rights film events in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, especially in countries with limited resources and freedom of press. Please note that we support film screenings; we do not support film production.

We offer two types of grants: start-up grants to support projects in their initial phase; and impact grants to support more established festivals that aim to expand or reach new audiences. Film screenings should contribute to discussion about human rights and social justice.

Please submit your application in time for the 15 April deadline. See our website for the entry form, and more info about selection criteria, different grants, general regulations and how to apply.

Since 2007 Movies that Matter allocated grants to more than 220 projects in 70 different countries. Read more about all projects that have been granted financial support in all these years, and be inspired!
