We are very pleased to announce that, contrary to our earlier message, there will be a second round of our grant programme this year! 

If you organise a film event to stimulate the discussion on human rights, social justice and freedom of expression, we welcome your project proposal! 

Are you a filmmaker? Then please submit your film for the Movies that Matter Festival 2019.

Call for proposals

Are you interested in organising a human rights film event in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe or the Middle East? We offer financial assistance and advice to festival organisers in low-income countries and states where press freedom is limited. Apply now for a start-up or impact grant!

The deadline is 14 October. Please note that projects starting before 1 January 2019 cannot be considered. Visit our site for other general regulations, selection criteria and the entry form

Call for entries MtM Festival

The next edition of the Movies that Matter Festival takes place between 22 - 30 March 2019. The festival presents seven awards.

We welcome you to submit your feature fiction and documentary films before the submission deadline 1 December 2018. The final selection will be announced in February 2019. Check our site for more info and regulations

HRFN@IDFA

During the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA – 14-25 November) the Human Rights Film Network (HRFN) organises its annual brunch meeting. 

The HRFN invites filmmakers, producers, distributors and sales organisations to meet and connect on 20 November. Please mark the date!

In the next few months all over the world human rights film festivals are starting. So, go out and watch some film! The season starts off with the Freedom Film Festival in Malaysia, the Festival des Libertés in Belgium, the Vermont International Film Festival, USA, and many more before the start of the new year.
